Hey everyone! My name is Alejandra Pena and I am currently a senior here at UW Madison majoring in International Studies. I'm also hoping to possibly get a certificate in Spanish as well. If my name wasn't a dead giveaway, I have a hispanic background (half Colombian to be specific) so learning Spanish and being able to communicate with my Colombian relatives is really important to me. I'm originally from Eden Prairie, Minnesota which is a suburb of Minneapolis.
As for some of my interests...I absolutely love to travel, particularly to anywhere in Europe. I didn't study abroad this last year but many of my friends did and I was able to visit them over spring break. We traveled to Ireland, Portugal, and Paris. I've also traveled a lot throughout other parts of Europe and South America with my family. I love spending time with my friends, staying active with things such as yoga and running, and I'm also really into cooking/baking. I have been a bartender at the Kollege Klub for almost a year and a half now. I absolutely love my job as well as all of the people I work with. Some other random facts about me are that I'm in a sorority, I'm addicted to starbucks, my all time favorite show is Grey's Anatomy, and my favorite restaurant here on campus is Pizza di Roma (odd choice I know but I'm obsessed with pizza).
I would say that I enjoy writing. Being a senior I've written my fare share of essays and papers throughout college. I always sort of dread papers at first but I always tend to be happy with the final product.
Overall, I'm looking forward to learning more about the Information Society and getting to know all of you throughout the semester!
