Manpower Findings- Jacob Lorig
Manpower.us is a site to help those looking for jobs in their local areas or other areas around the country. After exploring the website, it appears that most of the jobs the website offers are lower-lever entry jobs that do not pay a large salary. The first location I searched was Madison, Wisconsin. The website listed 15 available jobs in the Madison area, with most of them being contract and temporary jobs. Many jobs listed included driving a truck or working as an assembler. Personally, the jobs did not seem great and seem to target people who are not specialized in a single field. Next, I conducted a search for my hometown, Chicago, IL. 98 jobs came up on the site, with a lot more permanent jobs than Madison. Many of the jobs also seemed to target people specializing in certain fields, including marketing and accounting. Still, the demand for a technology background seemed nearly irrelevant with most of the jobs listed. I completed my search by seeing what jobs were available in the Los Angeles area. There were 32 job results that appeared, with many temporary and contract jobs similar to Madison. Once again, many of the jobs listed included assistants, assemblers, or customer service representatives. It was interesting to see such a vast difference between Chicago and Los Angeles, two of the largest cities in America. The jobs in Los Angeles did not seem like great jobs, and did not requite much technological background.

It is really interesting to see how the findings are similar between cities. The larger cities had a more diverse group of offerings but still the positions seemed undesirable.
