Zackary Moore Manpower

The three locations that I searched on Manpoweer were Madison, my hometown of Columbia, MO, and Phoenix, AZ as I would really like to live there some day. Phoenix had vastly more jobs available than Madison, and Columbia had just a few. The technologoical skills necessary for each job tended to vary quite a bit by location, but there was also a fair amount of variance within each location. Phoenix had a wide array of different jobs from food preperation to data processing and entry, and these require compeltely different skill sets and amounts of technology skills. The food preparation worker did not require any amount of technology skill for the position, while the data processor had to be farily experienced with Excel to be able to proerply and efficiently complete their job. Phoenix tended to have many more data and technology related jobs than Madison or Columbia did, and the wages tended to be higher. While Phoenix certainly had the widest array of different jobs available, Madison jobs also had a high amount of variance within them, ranging from electrical circuit assembly work (which would require a fair amount of technology fluency) to warehouse labor during the holliday season. The majority of jobs in Columbia required little skill in technology and were related to things like janitorial work and food service. There was a programming contract job, but that was by far the most technologically advanced job offered in Columbia. Generally it seems that these jobs are designed to have a high turnover rate and are not jobs that someone would want to have for a long time. While the quality of the jobs may vary quite a bit due to the range of different types of work, in general they all seem to be jobs that would ideally only be done temporarily for a short period of time in order to earn some extra money. There were very few permanent jobs listed, and almost everything was contract work.
